September and October wasn't really nice for me, I dealt with a couple of unpleasant and unexpected event that made my life chaotic (if that's the perfect word I can describe it). I think it was during that month that I can say that it was the peak of my unorganized thoughts, stress was eating me a lot and I feel like things suddenly out of hand. On the last week of September my grandma died, then last month a series of strong earthquakes hit our city and the city next to us which cause me of being anxious the entire time.
However, I told myself I don't want to be stuck in that situation and so I find ways how to drift my attention into something else, hence, I decided to start a new hobbies to enjoy myself for a time being.
HERE ARE THE LIST OF THINGS I TRIED (for roughly a month and fifteen days)
1. WATCH NETFLIX SHOWS:
- Aside from the list of shows I'm planning to watch during this month, I've spend most of my mornings and early afternoons watching Netflix movies and shows, basically just to waste my time on something unfulfilling but the same time made me forget about my constant anxious thoughts.
2. SELF-STUDY KOREAN
- Earlier this year (i think around July) I went back into self-studying Korean since this is one of my life long plan to be able to learn another language and Hangul is the perfect language because of my love for EXO specially Kim Jongin (and also I had plans to travel to Korea by December but unfortunately moved to sometime next year because I just had my passport renewed). Anyways, around August I stopped my self-studying because I was busy preparing for the EXO concert in Manila then I decided to continue it again last month. However, the motivation was kinda low and my anxious thoughts was still bothering me.
3. BASIC ASTROLOGY
- Can I just say that this is really "the most out of character" hobby I've tried out of all, there's this one moment where I was so excited to "get to know myself" and I read somewhere that knowing your different signs can somehow help you know yourself so I was like "why not? It's not harmful anyways"
4. EMBROIDERY
- okay how to explain why? hmm I think I was scrolling through my Instagram account when I saw a post about embroidery, then one post leads me to another and so on. Then I open my Shoppee account to order my first ever embroidery kit (which arrived after 2 weeks) but the sad thing about this kit was the free cloth they give is not "beginner" friendly cloth, so I stop for a while and maybe I'll continue this hobby during last week of Decemeber or sometime January when I already have a new cloth to use for stitching.
5. FANFIC WRITING
- MY TOP PRIORITY. Actually, the reason why I stop some of the hobbies I've started is because I need to focus on my fanfic,I'm currently working on my first ever fanzine project and in my zine I need to write a Christmas themed fic (and what's funny is that I'm supposed to continue my fanfic tonight yet I decide to write this blog).
6. READING
- Lately I tried to insert this hobby again but this time instead of fanfics or fiction books I'm leaning self-help books. Currently, I'm reading the book The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle I have so many things to say about this book maybe I'll make another post about this one next time after reading. This book is so amazing and an eye opening for me and it really helps me a lot, LIKE A LOT.
7. CALL OF DUTY(Bonus)
- One last thing on my list, is playing call of duty mobile, if I want to have instant distraction this is my to-go distraction lol
Anyways, with all of these things I have on my list this is so overwhelming but I will try to work on these in one way or another. Hopefully they will still help my mind preoccupied once I start doing them again even if I stopped them for the time being.
